The Cayman Islands Government has issued an all clear for its three Islands – Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman following a Tsunami threat after a 7.5 magnitude earthquake was detected 202 kilometres south west of George Town, Grand Cayman at approximately 6:23 p.m.on Saturday, 8 February.
The Government, through the Director of Hazard Management Cayman Islands (HMCI) Dani Coleman, has reassured residents that the threat of tsunami has passed and no tsunami wave has been observed.
“This was a large earthquake and are thankful that no major damage has been reported across our Islands. We encourage members of the public to remain calm, vigilant and to tune to official government and HMCI channels for updates,” she stated.
