Boyz2Men Ky Hosts Largest-Ever Fine Dining with Mom Event
The Boyz2Men Ky programme successfully hosted its 11th annual Fine Dining with Mom on Friday, June 5, marking the largest event in the programme’s history with more than 200 participants in attendance.
Held at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman, the evening celebrated the invaluable role mothers play in shaping the lives of young men while providing participants with an opportunity to demonstrate the principles of chivalry, gratitude, and respect that are central to the Boyz2Men programme.
Throughout the evening, many of the young men delivered heartfelt tributes to their mothers, resulting in numerous emotional moments as mothers were moved to tears by expressions of love and appreciation. Participants were also observed practicing acts of gentlemanly conduct, including opening doors for their mothers, pulling out chairs, and presenting them with red roses.
MC Donna Bushopened the evening by sharing the deeply personal story of the love she had for her only son and the pain of losing him. Her moving testimony created a powerful atmosphere that encouraged the boys to openly express their feelings and appreciation toward their mothers.
The evening also featured remarks from Ms. Lauren Knight, Acting Chief Officer, who left a lasting impression on attendees by inviting mothers and sons to exchange words of affirmation with one another. The exercise created a touching and memorable moment that resonated throughout the ballroom.
Special guest Hon. Rolston M. Anglin, JP, Minister for Education and Training, shared his own journey of being raised by a Caymanian domestic helper who believed in his potential and helped shape the person he would become. His remarks highlighted the profound influence mothers have in developing future leaders and contributors to society.
A special segment of the programme recognized the generous sponsors and supporters who continue to invest in the lives of young men through Boyz2Men Ky. Honorees included DART, Wheaton Precious Metals, Health City Cayman Islands, Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), Mr. Woody Foster and several individual contributors whose support has helped sustain and expand the programme’s impact. Two notable awardees for the evening were Ms. Marie Martin and Mr. Cassius Murray.
One grateful mother shared the following reflection after the event:
“Thank you all so much for such a beautiful and meaningful evening. Everything was amazing, from the dinner to the programme itself. As a mother, especially raising a son mostly on my own after the loss of his father, I truly appreciate the positive guidance, encouragement, and values you are teaching our boys. Last night meant a lot to both Jareth and me. Thank you again for all the love, effort, and support you pour into our sons and our community. Wishing continued blessings and success for the programme and all the boys involved.”
The evening concluded on a memorable note as Barris and Ketania Reid performed a moving duet while mothers and sons shared a special dance together, creating lasting memories for all in attendance.
Founded in 2009, Boyz2Men Ky continues to impact the lives of young men across the Cayman Islands. The programme currently operates at John Gray High School, Clifton Hunter High School, and Hope Academy, and is now on the cusp of expanding its reach to First Baptist Christian School.
The programme’s directors (Simon Miller, Christopher Murray, Seaford Russell, along with the campus coordinators Conway King and Tony Howell) expressed gratitude to all sponsors, volunteers, parents, and community partners and welcomed continued support through mentorship, volunteer service, and in-kind contributions.
As the programme continues to grow, its mission remains steadfast: turning boys into gentlemen and building stronger families and communities for future generations.
