Broadhurst LLC Lays Down the Law at St. Ignatius Scramble

The eleventh St. Ignatius Church and School Golf Scramble took place on Friday, March 5th at the North Sound Golf Club. Twenty-four teams of four participated on a sunny, breezy afternoon, which featured some great golf and lots of fun contests and prizes. Following the competition the golfers received a number of awards, raffle prizes, and a buffet dinner.

The winning team was ‘Broadhurst 2’, with a net score of 50.1: Kyle Broadhurst, Rob McNabb, Graham Robinson and Ian Lambert. Second place was ‘Broadhurst 1’, with a net score of 51.2: Alan Silverman, Colin Masterton, Dallas Neatham and Connan Hill. Third place was ‘Re/Max’, with a net score of 51.4: Dillon Claassens, Cory Scruggs, Nick Adendorff and Adam Sax. Members of all three teams won gift cards from the pro shop. The ‘Moore and Moore’ team finished 24th with the highest score of the day, earning a round of golf courtesy of the North Sound Golf Club.

The Closest to the Pin contest was a couple sweep, with Kim Corallo on hole nine and John Corallo on hole thirteen. Longest drive winners were Ashley McDonald for the ladies on hole two and Serge Berube for the men on hole twelve. All four winners received $100 gift cards from Kirk Freeport.

Matthew Wight of NCB Group won the putting contest, earning a round of four at the Ritz-Carlton golf course. He left his nearly 60 foot downhill putt just 2.25 inches from the hole. Perry Rombough won a bottle of champagne for finishing second.

‘Set Fore’ was voted best dressed team, in a unanimous decision by the judges. Stephen Chin, Alex Cowan, Keenan Ebanks and Garrett Conolly, all St. Ignatius alumni, arrived decked out in retro style St. Ignatius primary uniforms, complete with khaki shorts, checkered shirts and prefect badges!

Greg Lippett and Neil Purton each won a dozen golf balls for correctly guessing that 29 of the 96 players would hit their tee shots into the water on hole five, but no golfer was able to get the magical hole-in-one.

St. Ignatius would like to thank all of the major sponsors and prize donors: Moore and Moore Investments, BCQS Property Management, NCB Group, Kirk Freeport, Island Cleaners, The North Sound Golf Club, The Ritz-Carlton, Sarah Bertran, and Treats Restaurant.

Thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers: Pat and Joe Olszewski, Paul and Aida Romlewski, Allan Shine, Valentina Bustos, Diamond Chambers and Dena’e Alexander.

Final thanks go out to the North Sound Golf Club and their wonderful staff, and all of the corporate teams and players who took part this year. CI $6500 was raised towards St. Ignatius building improvements.
