Cayman Airways Hosts Local Initiatives to Inspire and Honour Current and Future Women in Aviation

Cayman Airways recently hosted a series of initiatives designed to honour women in aviation careers within the organization, while inspiring the next generation of female aviators in the Cayman Islands.

As the highlight of these events, the airline hosted a half-day immersive educational visit for select high school female students from various local schools who have expressed a strong interest in pursuing careers in aviation. Held at the airline’s Headquarters on Grand Cayman, the experience provided students with a unique, behind-the-scenes look at the dynamic and diverse career opportunities available within the company.

During the visit, participating students had the opportunity to:

• Meet and engage with female professionals across a wide range of aviation roles

• Meet Cayman Airways President and CEO, Fabian Whorms, who delivered an inspirational address

• Learn about careers in flight operations, engineering, maintenance, ground operations, safety, and corporate support

• Tour Cayman Airways’ Maintenance & Engineering Hangar

• Participate in an interactive question-and-answer session

• Gain insight into aviation careers, educational pathways, and long-term progression opportunities

A similar experience was also hosted for female students from Layman E. Scott High School in Cayman Brac, who toured the airline’s facilities on the island.

“The initiative was designed to break down barriers, increase awareness, and encourage more young women to pursue careers in aviation, a traditionally male-dominated industry that is seeing growing female representation,” said Wendy Evans-Williams, Director of Human Resources at Cayman Airways. “By providing meaningful exposure and authentic insight into the rewarding opportunities within our airline and the aviation industry, we aimed to inspire and empower the next generation of women leaders in aviation, and I’m pleased to say that we achieved that based on feedback from both students and their teachers.”

Other activities during the month of March for the company’s female employees included lunch-and-learn sessions and a brunch held in the Headquarters’ main boardroom.

“From pilots and cabin crew to flight operations and corporate leaders, women continue to play a critical role in shaping Cayman Airways’ success and future growth,” said Cayman Airways President and CEO, Fabian Whorms. “Cayman Airways remains committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and empowering workplace, and initiatives like these are essential to honouring the achievements of women in aviation while building a strong and representative future workforce.”
