The Cayman flag bearer from this year’s Super Bowl, Jimmy Weeden, flew to Grand Cayman aboard Cayman Airways’ nonstop flight from Los Angeles.
Jimmy Weeden received a warm and uniquely Caymanian welcome from the pilots and crew aboard CAL’s nonstop flight from Los Angeles to Grand Cayman.
The Cayman Islands flag shared the spotlight on this year’s Super Bowl stage, and Cayman Airways was proud to have played a key role in connecting the flag bearer, Jimmy Weeden from Los Angeles, with an authentic Caymanian travel experience aboard the airline’s nonstop flights from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
Following this year’s Super Bowl, a viral community-led campaign in Cayman quickly gained international attention as local residents set out to identify the person who had sprinted across the halftime stage holding high the Cayman flag and securing a standout moment on one of the world’s most-watched broadcasts. Once identified in California, Jimmy was invited by local organisers to experience the destination firsthand, making the journey to Grand Cayman via Cayman Airways’ easy Los Angeles/Cayman route.
Reflecting on his uniquely Caymanian journey aboard Cayman Airways from LAX, Jimmy said, “I can’t fly any other airline again!”
The moment marks a fitting full-circle journey: the Super Bowl’s Cayman flag carrier visiting the Cayman Islands aboard the country’s national flag carrier.
Cayman Airways’ nonstop LAX service, which connects the Cayman Islands directly to the U.S. West Coast with weekly flights, continues to strengthen ties between Cayman and key international markets, while supporting cultural, tourism, and community-driven initiatives like this one.
“We are honoured to have supported this inspiring story, which has captured the pride of our islands and the attention of audiences around the world,” said Olivia Scott-Ramirez, Director of Marketing and Public Relations for Cayman Airways. “Our Los Angeles route continues to be a powerful bridge between the Cayman Islands and the global entertainment industry, while proudly showcasing what it means to be a uniquely Caymanian brand.”
Jimmy’s visit was coordinated by Dane Ramoon and Phil Nabeel, and was supported by a coalition of private sector partners in the tourism industry.
