Jah’Mauri Watkis, Madison Lyn, Talan Blake and DaQuana Howell ran impressively
The Cayman Islands’ Under-18 mixed 4x100 metres relay team excelled themselves, delivering a record-breaking performance in Mexico.
Jah’Mauri Watkis, Madison Lyn, Talan Blake and DaQuana Howell clocked 44.52 seconds at the 2026 NACAC U18 Championships in Apizaco to establish the first Cayman Islands National Record in that event.
The quartet produced an outstanding display of speed and teamwork while competing against the region’s top youngsters. Their performance marks another milestone for Cayman Islands track and field and highlights the nation’s promising future in the sprint relays.
Talan Blake put together a massive performance in the 100m at the same championships. While he narrowly missed advancing to the final, the experience he gained was tremendous exposure for future meets.
These four are still maturing. They will be watching with interest at the Cayman Islands team at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland which commences this week and runs until August 2. The delegation includes a 12-member swim team, as well as representatives in gymnastics and the country’s first-ever men’s and women’s 3x3 basketball teams.
