Cayman’s Inaugural EcoFest to Bring the Community Together for Climate Action, Conservation and Sustainability
On Saturday, 8 August 2026, the Rotary Central Cayman Islands Interact Club will proudly host EcoFest 2026, Cayman’s first dedicated climate and environmental festival.
Taking place from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at The ARC, Camana Bay, EcoFest will bring together environmental organisations, businesses, government agencies, schools, youth groups and members of the public for an afternoon of learning, connection and community action.
Held under the theme “Our Islands, Our Climate, Our Future,” the festival has been created to help residents better understand the environmental challenges facing Cayman, discover practical solutions and connect with the people already working to protect our islands.
Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of EcoFest’s sponsors, admission is completely free, ensuring that families, students and members of the community can attend without cost being a barrier.
Why EcoFest Matters
Cayman’s natural environment is central to our identity, economy and way of life, but it is changing.
As a low-lying Small Island Developing Nation, the Cayman Islands is especially vulnerable to rising sea levels, stronger storms, coastal erosion, coral bleaching, biodiversity loss and increasing pressure from waste and pollution.
Healthy coral reefs, mangroves and coastlines help protect our communities, support marine life and sustain our tourism economy. However, these ecosystems are increasingly affected by warming seas, coastal development and pollution.
The Cayman Islands also generates hundreds of tonnes of waste each year, while plastic pollution continues to threaten marine animals, seabirds and coastal habitats.
EcoFest was created to turn concern into action by showing the community that meaningful environmental change can begin with practical choices, stronger partnerships and local involvement. The event supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 13: Climate Action, SDG 15: Life on Land, and SDG 14: Life Below Water.
A Festival Designed to Inspire Action
EcoFest is more than an exhibition. It is a celebration of the environmental work already taking place across the Cayman Islands.
Visitors will have the opportunity to:
• Meet local environmental organisations and community leaders
• Explore interactive exhibits and sustainability initiatives
• Learn about renewable energy, conservation and greener lifestyles
• Discover eco-friendly businesses and products
• Participate in family-friendly activities
• Win raffle prizes
• Learn practical ways to reduce their environmental impact
The event is designed for people of all ages, from children learning about nature for the first time to adults seeking ways to make more sustainable choices at home, at school, at work and throughout the wider community.
