Caymanian University Students Gain Real-World Experience Through 2025 Summer Internship Programme

Sixteen Caymanian university students enhanced their career readiness this summer through placements with leading organisations as part of the Ministry of Education and Training’s National Training and Development Unit (NT&D) paid Summer Internship Programme.

The units National Internship Programme connects students with practical opportunities during their academic break, giving them valuable workplace exposure in industries such as law, hospitality, media, construction, corporate services, and utilities. By bridging the gap between academic study and professional experience, the programme helps young Caymanians build networks, develop skills, and begin charting their career pathways while still in university.

Kimone Chambers, Manager for the National Training and Development Unit, underscored the importance of the initiative:

“Our focus is on preparing Caymanian students to confidently transition from the classroom to the workplace. The support of partner companies ensures that our young people gain the kind of practical exposure, mentorship, and professional skills that will position them to compete and thrive in today’s workforce.”

Students reflected on how the programme prepared them for future opportunities:

“Interning as a Post-Sales Associate gave me valuable hands-on experience in client support, problem-solving, and fostering lasting customer relationships, skills that I am confident will serve me well throughout my career.” – Intern, PBS Group Employers also emphasised the value of offering university students meaningful work experience:
