CIFA announces Girls U14 National Team tryouts

The Cayman Islands Football Association invites young female footballers across the Cayman Islands to try out for the Cayman Islands Girls Under-14 National Team beginning later this month.

Girls born in 2013, 2014 or 2015 are eligible to participate in the tryouts, which will be held over three Saturdays — Sept. 19, Sept. 26 and Oct. 3 — from 9-11 a.m. at the CIFA Centre For Excellence.  The tryouts will form part of CIFA's preparations to build a squad that will compete internationally in August 2027.

“This is about identifying and developing the next generation of young players who can represent the Cayman Islands,” CIFA Women’s Technical Director Martha Godet said. “We want girls to have opportunities to enter the national program early, develop their skills in a structured environment and gain the experience that comes with preparing for international competition. We encourage every eligible player who has the passion and commitment to come out and show us what she can do.”

The upcoming U14 program follows an encouraging period for girl’s football in the Cayman Islands. In July, the Cayman Islands Girls U15 National Team won the 2026 Goombay Cup in The Bahamas, finishing the tournament unbeaten with four wins and a draw.
