Victor Montagliani
The Cayman Islands Football Association welcomed Victor Montagliani, President of the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) and Vice President of FIFA, for an official visit to Grand Cayman over the weekend.
The 60-year-old Canadian has been CONCACAF president since 2016. Six months ago he was awarded the King Charles III’s Coronation Medal for the significant role he’s made to football in Canada and worldwide.
During his two-day visit, Montagliani met with CIFA executives, government leaders and members of the local media to discuss opportunities for strengthening football development and positioning the Cayman Islands as a hub for regional competitions and international friendlies.
“It’s an honour to welcome President Montagliani to the Cayman Islands,” said CIFA President Alfredo Whittaker. “His visit underscores CONCACAF’S ongoing commitment to the growth of football at every level, and it gives us a valuable opportunity to showcase our facilities, development programs, and vision for the game’s continued progress here in Cayman.”
The visit begun on Sunday with a tour of the CIFA Centre for Excellence, including the national training centre, and a presentation on CIFA’s ongoing infrastructure and development projects. After the tour a press briefing was held in the CIFA boardroom, where Montagliani addressed the media alongside Whittaker.
