Jordan Crooks hopes for Olympic glory in 2028

Cayman Islands sprint star Jordan Crooks continues to impress on the international stage, powering to victory in a stacked 50metre freestyle heat at the University of Virginia.

The shortcourse world record holder competed in the 50 metres for the first time in a long while. Crooks touched in 20.48 seconds, edging out American Olympic champion Caeleb Dressel, who finished in 20.92. Crooks, 24, recently returned to competitive swimming with a focus on Olympic glory at the Los Angeles Games in 2028.

The heat featured several top sprinters, but Crooks held his nerve and surged at the wall to claim the win. It was another strong marker as he builds toward a busy international season.

The performance underscores Cayman’s rising strength in sprint freestyle, with Crooks once again proving he can match — and beat — some of the world’s best.
