Young people in Cayman Brac are being given a unique opportunity to gain on the job experience in the tourism industry and position themselves as hospitality ambassadors through a new internship at Le Soleil d’Or.

The three-month internship that starts in June 2024, the latest addition to the Dart Hospitality Training Programme, is open to those aged 17 to 30 years, are recent graduates from secondary or tertiary educational programmes and residing in Cayman Brac. Two successful applicants will get exposure to various roles at the Dart-owned nine-room boutique resort which has gained international acclaim for its farm-to-table philosophy.

“I’m excited to announce that we are expanding training opportunities through our Dart Hospitality Training Programme through this special internship to those in Cayman Brac who are interested in being nurtured as authentic Caymankind tourism ambassadors,” said Dart Chief of Staff, Joanne Lawson.

“Many talented young Caymanians have not only received on the job training but have also gone on to gain full-time employment and promotions at properties in our hospitality portfolio in Grand Cayman and we are hoping for similar success in Cayman Brac.”

Dart Hospitality Programme Manager, Dianne Conolly encouraged young people who are interested in the internship to apply before the 10 May 2024 to apply deadline. Successful applicants will receive a minimum of 30 hours of training per week with an hourly stipend and basic health insurance. Upon completion of the programme, trainees will have an opportunity to apply for vacant positions at Le Soleil d’Or.

“It’s an excellent opportunity for young people from the Brac who would otherwise have had to travel to Grand Cayman. That’s why I’m excited to call on those who have an interest in opening themselves to a world of possibilities that exists in the hospitality industry,” she said, noting that successful applicants will rotate between roles in administration, food and beverage, housekeeping and on the resort’s 20-acre farm.

Conolly added that ideal candidates would have obtained a minimum of a high school diploma, have basic computing skills and are flexible to work evenings and weekends.
