Action from the 2020 CUC PFL Under 9 Consolation Cup quarterfinal between South Sound Schools (yellow and blue) and Truth For Youth

Defending Under 9 and Under 11 league champions Cayman Prep continue their march to successive titles as they won their respective quarterfinal games in the 2020 CUC Primary Football League (PFL) playoffs, which were played this past Saturday, November 28 at the Annex Field.

While the boys were focussed exclusively on the Consolation and Champions Cup quarterfinal playoffs, the girls continued their regular season games in the 2020 CUC Girls’ Primary Football League (GPFL).

 

CUC GPFL Under 11 League

With only two games remaining in the 2020 season, any slip-ups this late in the season could end potential schools’ goals of finishing in the top three. Cayman Prep Blue kept their title hopes alive with a 4-0 victory over Sir John A. Cumber Primary while St. Ignatius Catholic’s title hopes took a blow after they lost 1-3 to an ‘explosive’ Theoline L. McCoy Primary outfit. In other games it was George Town Primary 1 vs. Triple C 1 and Savannah Primary 1 vs. Prospect Primary 1.

 

CUC PFL Under 9 Consolation Cup

In the lone Under 9 Consolation Cup quarterfinal played on Saturday, South Sound Schools advanced to the semifinals with a 4-0 win (respect rule enforced) over Truth For Youth. South Sound Schools will face George Town Primary and Cayman Prep 9B will play Theoline L. McCoy Primary in the semifinals next Saturday.

George Town Primary, Cayman Prep 9B and Theoline L. McCoy Primary received byes to the semifinal round due to their regular season positions in the final Group A and Group B regular season standings.

 

CUC PFL Under 9 Champions Cup

2019 Under 9 defending champions Cayman Prep 9A defeated Sir John A. Cumber Primary 3-0 to advance to the semifinals next week. Cayman Prep 9A will face St. Ignatius Catholic who topped Red Bay Primary 4-1. In the other quarterfinal games played, Cayman International School (CIS) defeated Prospect Primary 4-0 (respect rule enforced) and Savannah Primary slipped by Triple C 3-2 on penalties after both schools could not find the back of the net during regulation time.

In the semifinals, Cayman Prep 9A will play St. Ignatius Catholic and CIS take on Savannah Primary.

 

CUC PFL Under 11 Consolation Cup

George Town Primary overcame Theoline L. McCoy Primary 4-2 to secure a spot in next Saturday’s semifinals while Truth For Youth will join their George Town neighbours as the sky blues outlasted Triple C 2-1 in a penalty shootout.

George Town Primary will face Savannah Primary and Truth For Youth take on Prospect Primary in the semifinals. Savannah Primary and Prospect Primary received byes to the semifinal round due to their regular season positions in the final Group A and Group B regular season standings.

 

CUC PFL Under 11 Champions Cup

Defending Under 11 champions Cayman Prep 11A continued their unbeaten run with a 4-0 win over St. Ignatius Catholic to secure a spot in the semifinals. In other scores, CIS advanced to the semis with a 5-1 victory over NorthEast Schools, Red Bay Primary held on to beat Sir John A. Cumber Primary 1-0 and South Sound Schools topped Cayman Prep 11B 2-0.

In the semifinals, Cayman Prep 11A will play Red Bay Primary and CIS take on South Sound Schools for a place in the final.

The semifinal round of the 2020 CUC PFL Champions and Consolation Cup playoffs take place this Saturday, December 5. The finals and third-place games will take place on Saturday, December 12. All playoff games are at the Annex Field.

The final two rounds of the 2020 CUC GPFL will also take place on Saturday, December 5 and Saturday, December 12 at the Annex Field.
