DEH Announces Completion of Annual Bulk Waste Collection Schedule 2026
by Grand Cayman
The Department of Environmental Health (DEH) officially confirms the successful conclusion of this year’s bulk waste collection schedule.
The comprehensive clean-up operation, which rolled out across all five districts of Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman, has now ended. Residential collection of bulk waste is finished, and standard waste management protocols have resumed.
Reflection on the successful operation, DEH Director Richard Simms praised the community’s civic pride and active involvement in this year’s campaign. “I want to extend my sincere gratitude to all residents across our islands for their incredible collaboration and contribution during the last four weeks,” said Simms. “Your cooperation is separating materials and adhering to the district schedules played a vital role in making this massive clean-up exercise a truly successful one. Thanks to your efforts, our teams were able to work safely and efficiently, significantly improving the cleanliness of our neighbourhoods ahead of the peak hurricane season.”
Residents are reminded that following the completion of the Bulk Waste Collection Schedule, individuals should arrange to transport any additional waste to the landfills and report any illegal dumping and littering to the DEH or the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS). This unlawful practice can result in a penalty of 6 months of imprisonment and a minimum fine of $500.
The George Town Landfill operates from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays, until 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays and is closed on Sundays. The landfill drop-off facility at the www.gov.ky/deh
gate will remain accessible to the public and small vehicles 24 hours per day.
