DEH’s Bulk Waste Campaign Removes Tons of Waste

The Department of Environmental Health’s (DEH) bulk waste campaign is moving smoothly through their annual beautifying and community assistance project.

The campaign has now progressed its bulk waste collections and clean-ups in to George Town this week and will be heading into West Bay next week.

Work has already began on the eastern side of the Brac and will move onto Little Cayman the following week.

DEH, who is committed to helping with the NICE programme, has also taken on 20 temporary workers to help with the massive annual project.

The latest ongoing tons by materials and district to 5th Dec are:

“This is a lot of waste taken from our streets and our communities; we are just about half way through this campaign and the work completed so far by our teams has been impressive. The additional hands on deck through the NICE programme is always welcomed by our staff and they have been doing an excellent job jumping in and getting the work done,” said Michael Haworth – Assistant Director, Solid Waste – DEH.

DEH wishes to remind residents that they should continue to follow the guidelines for bulk waste collections and be ready for their collection dates.

Also, the public is reminded not to place anymore materials out in the areas already covered.

“If materials are left at the side of the road past the district dates, this puts additional work on the DEH collections team at an already busy time of the year. We appreciate the efforts of the community thus far,” Mr Haworth added.

The bulk waste campaign ends next week on Saturday December 19th, 2020.
