The Department of Sports proudly celebrated Women’s Month with its International Women’s Day Wellness Presentation, an inspiring and empowering event that captivated an estimated 100 attendees despite multiple concurrent events. Held for the first time at the South Sound Community Centre, the venue provided a more relaxed, but elegant island atmosphere that fostered meaningful interactions between guests and presenters.

The evening was filled with insightful discussions and impactful presentations, centering on “The Active Woman: Nutrition, Exercise, and Recovery.” The esteemed presenters delivered invaluable knowledge, leaving attendees both informed and inspired. The overwhelmingly positive feedback received, highlights the event’s resounding success and the significance of the topics addressed.

As the Lead Organizer, I extend heartfelt gratitude to my Department (Deputy Chief Officer Dalton Watler) and the Ministry of Youth, Sports & Heritage (MYS&H) for their unwavering support in making this event possible once again. On behalf of the Department of Sports, I also extend sincere appreciation to our valued sponsors: the Ministry of Youth, Sports & Heritage and Chief Officer Ms. Teresa Echenique; Mr. Wayne English of Welly’s Cool Spot Restaurant; Mr. Richard Hew of CUC; Cayman Airways; and Mrs. Karla Bodden of Queensgate. A special thank you is also extended to the Cayman Islands Netball Association for generously providing transportation for guests, as well as the many other anonymous and named donors who contributed to the event’s success.

A heartfelt thank you to the dedicated individuals who worked behind the scenes to ensure the event ran seamlessly. A massive thank you to my project and graphic team: Jade Pitcairn, Tristan Wesenhagen, James Myles, and Francesca Hamann. Deep gratitude also goes to our on-the-day event team: Ms. Melissa Whorms, Shakira Miller, Ceronne Glasgow, Jessie Dickson, Wendy Evans, and Joy Taylor. Without their dedication and hard work, this event would not have been possible.

We are immensely grateful for the support of everyone who played a role—whether large or small—in making this evening a resounding success. This includes every individual on the Programme of Events, including Acting Assistant Director of Sports Mrs. Lavern Ebanks, as well as our families, friends, colleagues, and the wider community who made the effort to attend and celebrate this special occasion.

Finally, a huge thank you to our strong, intelligent, and engaging Esteemed Presenters for their willingness to share their knowledge and time. Their dedication to breaking barriers and paving the way for future generations is truly commendable. They exemplify the spirit of #AccelerateAction and continue to inspire positive change.
