Beacon Farms Golf Invitational 2025 dinner and prize-giving
You don’t have to score a hole-in-one for a round of golf to have a lasting impact. Registering for the Beacon Farms Golf Invitational on Friday 24 April 2026 at the North Sound Golf Club helps transform lives by supporting the non-profit farm’s mission to provide jobs in agriculture to Caymanians in recovery from substance abuse.
Corporate teams and community supporters are invited to join an afternoon of golf, networking and friendly competition, followed by a buffet dinner, awards ceremony and raffle. Teams of four playing in the golf scramble will have the chance to win a brand-new car thanks to hole-in-one sponsor TRAC Automotive, and compete for other prizes such as best team, closest to the pin and longest drive.
The annual Golf Invitational is one of Beacon Farms’ most important fundraising events with proceeds supporting the farm’s operations where fifteen Caymanians are currently employed in its recovery programme. Beacon Farms offers a second chance for recovering addicts to earn a living, learn new skills and develop a career in a range of agricultural jobs from planting and harvesting to manufacturing and equipment operation and maintenance.
“Farming offers great variety and the chance to work close to nature, far from the distractions and temptations of everyday life,” said Sandy Urquhart, Beacon Farms CEO. “Our employee retention rate was 92% last year, demonstrating the worth of providing a continuum of care. I am especially proud of our four farm supervisors – Sasha, Robert, Obed and Anthony – who have been with the farm more than 5 years and are the lynchpins our success.”
As a social enterprise, Beacon Farms’ business plan is to generate sufficient revenue to become financially sustainable operationally by the end of 2029 through sales of compost, and mulch from its expanded composting facility, manufactured products, fresh produce, farming services and ecotourism. Until then, Beacon Farms relies on support from the community to deliver its recovery and agricultural programmes.
Beacon Farms is making a significant contribution to increasing food production in the Cayman Islands, not only by the crops grown in its own fields and orchards, but also by helping others improve soil quality on their farmland. Beacon Farms has specialised rock-crushing equipment that can transform unproductive land into fertile fields by pulverising rock which is then mixed with compost.
“Beacon Farms is pioneering some really impactful farming methods which have the potential to really move the needle on food security in the Cayman Islands,” said Urquhart. “But like all non-profits, we need funding and support from others in our community to make it happen. We are grateful to all our supporters and hope to see a good turnout at this year’s golf event.”
Entry for a team of four into the Beacon Farms Golf Invitation on 24 April is $1,000, with limited spaces still available. Sponsors for this year’s tournament include Tower Marketing, who also provide event management support, Rotary Central, Re/Max, RF Bank & Trust, Aureum Re, CG Britcay, Maples and others.
