Duathlon returns at Yacht Club

The Duathlon is a popular event for athletes

The Ogier Stroke & Stride series is the start of the triathlon season

The Cayman Islands Triathlon Association’s annual McGrath Tonner Duathlon returns next month.

The event is on Sunday 18 October with a 6:30am start at the Cayman Islands Yacht Club.

This immensely fun event comprises of a 2-mile run, a 12-mile bike followed by a 2-mile run. Anyone can part as either an individual or as part of a team. Individual entry: $35, 2-person team: $60 and 3-person team: $70. There is no race day registration.

Meanwhile, the annual Ogier Stroke & Stride series is on. It started on Wednesday 9 September at Sunset House. The next one is Wednesday 16 September and final one is Wednesday 23 September.

Popular amongst swimmers and runners of all levels, the Stroke & Stride is designed to encourage athletes of all abilities to take part. The event starts with a sunset sea swim – the distance of which increases each week from 400 to 600 to 800 metres – followed by a 2-mile run through South Sound finishing at Sunset House.

Individuals or teams have the option to register for one, two or all three races, so there are many ways to join in the fun.

Entry fees for individuals are $20 per race or $40 for all three. Entry fees for teams are $30 per race or $70 for the series.
