FORMER ANGUILLA CHIEF MINISTER DIES
Anguilla is mourning the death of former Chief Minister Hubert Hughes, who passed away on May 8th at the age of 87.
Mr Hughes served three terms as Chief Minister; 1994 to 1999, 1999 to 2000, and 2010 to 2015.
Anguill’s Premier Dr Ellis Webster memorialised Mr Hughes stating: “With a political career spanning approximately forty years, Mr Hughes is one of Anguilla’s most revered political leaders.”
He said, “The people of Anguilla will forever be grateful for his contribution to the development of our beloved island.”
Flags on Anguilla were being flown at half-mast over the past week as a mark of respect.
Last year, a street was named in his honour.
