On Thursday, November 21, KPMG held its second annual Gear Up event, raising over US$4,000 for this year’s beneficiaries, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Cayman Islands.
The event, held on the roof terrace at KPMG’s SIX office, saw around 60 guests networking and enjoying drinks and canapés while viewing and purchasing luxury timepieces from local watch and jewelry vendors, including Island Jewellers, Kirk Freeport and Magnum Jewelers.
A raffle was held to raise funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters, where one lucky guest won a diamond necklace kindly donated by Island Jewellers. Other prizes included a diamond pendant necklace from Magnum Jewelers and a Mont Blanc pen, wallet and bag from Kirk Freeport. Island Jewellers also matched 10% of the total raffle money raised for Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Big Brothers Big Sisters provides a wide range of networking opportunities to meet the varied needs of young people in the Cayman Islands and their families. The young people, known as ‘Littles’, are matched with mentors, or ‘Bigs’, for one-on-one mentoring, providing the ‘Littles’ with social, intellectual and creative growth and valuable experiences.
Niko Whittaker, Director at KPMG and organizer of the event said, “We are so thankful for everyone who attended and graciously donated at the event, as well as the vendors, who went above and beyond in their donations to the raffle and their support this year. Gear Up is not only a great event to kick off the holiday season, but each year it helps support children’s futures through different local charities, with this year’s beneficiary being the brilliant Big Brothers Big Sisters.”
