Girls Softball – Game Report – Saturday, July 25th

Scotiabank 19, Coldwell Banker 9

The CI Little League suspended all games in mid March due to the global pandemic and local restrictions. After more than four months off, the Girls Softball league was finally able to resume games on Saturday, July 25th, with Scotiabank using a well-balanced attack to outslug Coldwell Banker 19-9.

Scotiabank scored six runs in the first inning and they put the game out of reach by plating nine runs in the top of the fourth.

Zhanna McDonald, Clara Ramos, Calissa Ylagan and Carmella Ylagan scored three runs each for the winners, while leadoff batter Shay Windsor was on base all four times and scored twice.

In the third inning Calissa caught a line-drive at 2B as Scotiabank turned a rare triple play, with two Coldwell Banker runners being caught too far off base.

Aydis Rostran and Annie Hawkins each reached base all three times for Coldwell Banker, with Aydis scoring twice. Lili Aleria had an RBI hit up the middle and scampered all the way around to score when the ball evaded the outfielders and reached the fence.

Carmella pitched very well in relief for Scotiabank, allowing just one run in her two innings of work.

All the coaches agreed that the final score didn’t matter... it was just great to see everyone getting a chance to play again after all these months.

Players of the Game:

Calissa Ylagan (Scotiabank): On base four times, three runs scored, and started the triple play with a good catch.

Shay Windsor (Scotiabank): On base four times, two runs scored, and excellent defense at catcher.
