HE Governor Martyn Roper and Hon. Premier Wayne Panton
HE Governor Martyn Roper and Hon. Premier Wayne Panton had their first formal meeting since the swearing-in of the PACT (People-driven, Accountable, Competent and Transparent) coalition administration.
In a post on his official social media page following the meeting on Thursday, the Governor said, “The Premier and I met for the first of our regular weekly meetings. It is an opportunity for us to discuss matters of importance to Cayman and for me to understand how my office and I can best support the Government.”
Mr Roper said this week he briefed the Premier on a range of security and law enforcement issues, and they discussed civil service support to the new Government, financial services, concerns about vaccine take-up, and plans for the Premier’s new Ministry and possible UK support.
“As I said in my speech at the Swearing-in ceremony, I look forward to a close and productive working relationship with the Premier and the new Government,” Mr Roper stated.
