HE Governor Jane Owen, Dale Crowley, R3 Chairman

Her Excellency the Governor Jane Owen has accepted the role of Principal for the R3 Cayman Foundation. Following her predecessor Governor Martyn Roper, she assumes the mantle of certain oversight powers to ensure R3’s continued good governance.

“We are honoured and delighted that Her Excellency has agreed to continue the close relationship between the Governor’s office and R3,” said R3 Chairman Dale Crowley. “In addition to providing insights as to how R3’s readiness initiatives can support security enhancements in both normal and post-disaster circumstances, her expertise from decades of service with the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office will provide R3 with valuable global perspective on how to best position our country for enduring resilience.”

The Governor’s appointment comes at a pivotal year for R3 as the charitable foundation broadens its initial focus on relief from Covid-19 related hardships and recovery from the pandemic’s long-term impacts. The foundation’s independent board of directors is prioritizing readiness initiatives to ensure the Cayman Islands are well prepared for future crises and natural disasters.

Since its inception in May 2020, R3 has donated to more than 30 local charitable organisations and governmental departments and authorities that provide emergency preparedness and relief for natural disasters and societal issues. R3 was seeded with a CI $1 million donation from the Kenneth B. Dart Foundation which has pledged an additional CI $5.5 million in matching contributions to those from other philanthropic foundations, corporations and individuals.
