Guyana’s North Soesdyke rep receives the winning trophy

Grenada is increasing its tourism industry through sports events and last week a cricket tournament was staged with great success.

The Grenada Tourism Authority was pleased by how the Pure Grenada Masters Cricket Tournament brought together veteran players from across the Caribbean while delivering a boost to the island’s tourism sector and local economy.

The tournament attracted 60 visiting players representing four regional teams; the West Indies Masters, Trinidad’s Munroe Road Masters, Guyana’s North Soesdyke, and Barbados’ AMAAS Masters. They competed alongside two Grenadian teams: Spice Isle Masters 1 and Spice Isle Masters 2, in a lively showcase of regional cricket talent and camaraderie.

Guyana’s North Soesdyke emerged as tournament champions, while Trinidad’s Munroe Road Masters secured the runner-up position.

“This is a shining example of how sports tourism can fuel our local economy and showcase our island’s hospitality,” said Stacey Liburd, CEO of the GTA. “By blending competition with strategic partnerships, we are creating meaningful experiences that benefit our service sectors and keep Grenada’s tourism momentum strong throughout the year.”

Organisers were pleased that businesses in hospitality, restaurants, and tourism-related enterprises benefited from the influx of visitors.
