Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee
On 6 February this year, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II marked 70 years on the British throne – the longest serving British monarch in history. This is a feat which will be celebrated with a four-day Jubilee weekend at the beginning of June in the UK and also in the Cayman Islands.
Over the last 70 years, the Queen has accomplished several remarkable historical milestones. In 2015, she became the longest ruling British Monarch in history. She has also been the most widely travelled. Her many historic overseas visits, including two to the Cayman Islands in 1983 and 1994, have made her a well-loved figurehead throughout the Commonwealth.
Over the following pages we pay tribute to Her Majesty and her incredible reign, and her and the rest of the Royal Family’s connection with the Cayman Islands.
