Moses Itauma was sparring with champs at 15
The most exciting heavyweight contender in decades challenges for his first world title soon.
Moses Itauma is only 21 but he has already won 14 fights with ease, 12 of them ending early. Itauma collides with Filip Hrgovic at London’s O2 Arena on August 29, for the IBF world title.
They will contest one of Oleksandr Usyk’s old belts, with the winner needing to face the official challenger Frank Sanchez in his following outing.
So far Itauma has impressed but against mostly limited opposition, with the exception of Jermaine Franklin in March.
But even then, the ferocious Brit dispatched the fringe contender in five rounds, while Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte went the distance with Franklin in previous fights.
Croatian Hrgovic, 34, however, is genuine world class, with his only defeat an eighth-round cuts stoppage to Daniel Dubois in 2024.
If he claims the IBF title, Itauma would also become the youngest heavyweight champion since Mike Tyson, aged 20, defeated Trevor Berbick in 1986.
