Late Friday night Kirk Market advised the public via its Facebook page that three (3) of their team members have tested positive for COVID-19.
They were advised by the Cayman Islands Health Services Authority of these results as a result of Covid 19 testing of their frontline staff. The supermarket advised that they are in contact with the affected team members who are all asymptomatic and have given them their full support and wish them all the best in their recovery.
As part of our COVID Emergency Response Plan, Kirk Market closed its doors to the public on Saturday 9th May to conduct additional stringent sanitation and deep-cleaning procedures for the entire store.
Meticulous contact tracing has been carried out to track down every colleague who has been in sustained or adjacent contact with the affected team-members. All close contacts have been tested and excluded from work while they await their results from the HSA as they continue testing of all frontline workers throughout the island.
The safety of our team members and customers remains our highest priority, regardless of the challenging times we now face. They further advised that they are monitoring the COVID-19 situation very closely, while actively collaborating with the Health Services Authority and following all recommended guidelines.
KIRK PHARMACY continued to provide emergency prescription CURBSIDE PICK-UP on SATURDAY 9th MAY from 9am - 5pm and the main store plans to re-open on Monday 11th, May.
On Saturday, Kirk advised that the had taken the responsibility to inform the public because they had looked at the writing on the wall, not metaphorically but literally.
Inside of our store, on the wall near the checkouts, they publicly displayed the 7 Guiding Principles of our Kirk Market Manifesto.
Guiding Principle #6 on that wall says, “We Care About Our People.” It is their promise to their team members, and we stood by it.
They were moved by the outpouring of support and concern for their affected team members and would like to take the opportunity to let the public know how they are supporting them.
Any Kirk Market Employee excluded from work due to a COVID-related absence will be entitled to:
• Full Pay.
• A temporary charge account for FREE prepared meals, groceries, and prioritized home-delivery for their household.
• Additional COVID Sick Leave.
As Inflation grips the Cayman Islands, should COVID regulations be removed?
