The Public Health Department confirms that a Little Cayman resident tested positive for COVID-19 in Grand Cayman on Friday 22 October 2021.
The individual who had travelled from Little Cayman to Cayman Brac and then Grand Cayman earlier on Friday, had taken the test ahead of a planned return to Little Cayman on Saturday.
Public Health is able to share the following information in relation to the incident:
All primary contacts of the individual who is COVID-19 positive have since tested negative. This includes primary contacts on Little Cayman, Cayman Brac and Grand Cayman.
Following the start of the current outbreak of COVID in Grand Cayman, the Faith Hospital team, on 19 September 2021, began performing proactive COVID-19 screening. As at today (Monday, 25 October) all 595 swabs completed have come back negative for COVID-19.
To date 1860 people from Cayman Brac and Little Cayman have been vaccinated against COVID-19. The percentage of each island’s population that has been fully vaccinated is:
95% in Little Cayman and
83.5% in Cayman Brac.
