The recruitment drive for the next Miss Cayman Islands Universe was officially launched last weekend with a special ‘Meet & Greet’ event at The Wharf. Potential contestants joined committee members for an informative yet casual evening.
“I’m pleased with the great turnout”, said Committee Chairperson, Derri Dacres-Lee. “There was good interest from potential contestants and it was refreshing to learn that they all felt inspired by attending the event. We look forward to hosting our pageant in September and will continue accepting applications until 15th June. Being part of this experience is also unique opportunity where you can be an ambassador for our beautiful islands and let your voice be heard,” added Ms. Dacres-Lee.
Minister for Tourism & Transport, the Hon. Kenneth Bryan, commented, “The Ministry is a proud sponsor, and supporter, of the Miss Cayman Islands Universe pageant, because we recognise that the role of Miss Cayman Islands Universe is about much more than just holding a title. Wearing that crown comes with the responsibility of being a tourism ambassador for our country, which includes representing the Cayman Islands on the world stage. I know I speak for the entire Ministry, in saying that we are immensely proud of the young ladies who have already registered to take part in the pageant, and I welcome and encourage any other young ladies who might still be thinking about it, to sign up.”
The committee thanks its corporate sponsors who continue to offer tremendous support - the Ministry & Department of Tourism, Cayman Airways, Compass Media and Radio Cayman.
