The YMCA of the Cayman Islands is continuing to expand access to vital youth and family programmes through the support of community partners, including a recent $5,000 contribution generated during the presale phase of the Out of this World Music Fest.
This donation forms part of the YMCA’s Annual Caring Campaign, which ensures that no child or family is turned away due to financial barriers. Through programme subsidies and scholarships, the YMCA creates safe, structured, and enriching environments for children across the islands, giving families the confidence that their children are supported, engaged, and thriving.
In the past year alone, the YMCA has delivered more than $300,000 in programme subsidies, helping over 1,000 children access camps, extended after-school care, and youth sports programmes. These initiatives play a critical role in strengthening families and building a healthier, more connected community.
Support from donors directly funds life-changing opportunities, including:
• Youth sports participation such as baseball, softball, and football, where just $100 sponsors a child for an entire season
• One-week camp experiences, with $285 providing a full week of structured activities during school breaks
• Ongoing programme assistance that enables working families to balance their responsibilities, knowing their children are in a safe and nurturing environment
Sergio Sandy of the YMCA of the Cayman Islands highlighted the importance of community contributions:
“On behalf of the YMCA, we are deeply grateful for the support of the organizers of the Out of this World Music Festival. Contributions like this ensure that every child has the opportunity to participate, regardless of financial circumstances. These funds go directly toward scholarships and programme access, helping young people across Cayman grow, learn, and succeed.”
The contribution was made possible through the early presale success of the Out of this World Music Fest, an event built not only to bring people together through music but also to reinvest in the community it serves.
“This festival is about giving back to families across Cayman in meaningful ways,” said John Watler, event organizer. “The YMCA’s work speaks for itself - they create real opportunities for children and support systems for parents. Being able to contribute to that mission is something we’re incredibly proud of, and it’s just the beginning of how we want this event to make an impact.”
