Paradigm Governance boosts New York presence with experienced private funds attorney hire

Paradigm Governance Partners, a governance and financial services firm with a presence in the Cayman Islands and New York, has expanded its New York presence with the addition of an experienced private funds attorney who has joined the company’s growing team.

George Mazin spent 19 years at Dechert, a global law firm, where he served as the head of the firm’s US private funds group. Based in New York, he provided a range of services to both start up and large institutional fund managers, including fund structuring and preparation of offering documents, negotiating side letters, as well as ongoing compliance and regulatory advice. He regularly counseled clients on all aspects of fund management and governance, including capital raising, investor issues, trading and investment due diligence as well as management of conflicts.

Prior to Dechert, Mazin began his legal career and spent 20 years at Lowenstein Sandler. Mazin holds a JD degree from Rutgers University and practiced in New York and New Jersey for almost forty years. For the last 19 years he was the practice group leader for the US private funds group of Dechert, a global law firm.

In his new role with Paradigm Governance Partners, Mazin will be available to serve as a professional independent director on the boards of hedge funds, credit funds, private equity and venture funds, as well as traditional long only funds, and investment management companies. He is well versed in governance, regulatory and compliance issues facing investment managers across multiple jurisdictions. With nearly 40 years of experience as a private funds attorney and leader in the development and growth of the private funds industry, he brings a unique perspective and skillset to the management and governance of private funds.

Paradigm Governance Partners was launched in 2018 in the Cayman Islands on the back of the growth in demand for premier quality fiduciary services. Its offering includes independent directors, distressed fund and value recovery services, family office outsourced financial reporting, AML officers, and AEOI and economic substance solutions. Its directors provide complementary skillsets ranging across all aspects of the alternative investment industry, including risk management, legal, regulatory, audit, accounting, compliance, valuation, trading and recovery.

Geoff Ruddick, partner of Paradigm Governance Partners, said:

“We are thrilled to have George join Paradigm, as someone with his depth of experience and legal expertise is invaluable from the perspective of a fund manager and will be incredibly complementary to our existing team. Having known and worked with George for many years we know the value he can bring to the firm and to our clients. George’s presence in New York will also greatly expand our service offering to our clientele.”

George Mazin said:

“I am excited to be joining such a high quality and forward-looking firm as Paradigm where I will be able to support and complement the fiduciary team as a firm representative in the New York area. I am excited to utilize the knowledge and experience I gained in my nearly forty years of representing private fund managers and their funds as an attorney and now re-engage as a director to provide a high level of service to clients. Recognizing how the industry has changed in recent years, and the increasing importance of providing high quality governance services, I appreciate the value proposition and range of services Paradigm can offer to clients is second to none and one that I am extremely proud to join.”
