Phoenix Construction Rises to the Task, Restoring Hope and Roofs Over Jamaica’s Schools

Phoenix Construction, in partnership with Butler Manufacturing, a division of BlueScope Buildings, is proud to support ongoing recovery efforts following the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa. In collaboration with Rotary Club of Grand Cayman and Rotary District 7020, the companies have donated a 40-foot shipping container carrying over 30,000 square feet of commercial-grade structural metal roofing panels, covering transportation costs from the supplier’s plant in Tennessee to the Port of Montego Bay.

The donated materials will play a critical role in restoring damaged infrastructure across the island and will primarily be used to replace roofs at several schools severely affected by the hurricane, helping ensure students can return to safe and secure learning environments as quickly as possible.

Phoenix Construction also extends its sincere appreciation to Seaboard Marine, whose support, through a significant discount on ocean freight, contributed to this effort.

“Supporting communities in times of crisis is a responsibility we take seriously,” said Shayne Howe, Managing Director at Phoenix Construction and Honorary Rotarian. “We are grateful to partner with organizations like Rotary and Butler Manufacturing to deliver meaningful assistance where it’s needed most. We deeply appreciate Butler’s generous contribution and support for this initiative.”

For 47 years, Phoenix Construction has been committed to “Building Things That Matter.” Butler Manufacturing has been an important partner throughout that journey, supplying high-quality building systems across the Cayman Islands and Jamaica. The Cayman Islands and Jamaica share strong community ties, and Phoenix values the opportunity to give back and contribute where it can make the greatest impact.

Phoenix Construction remains committed to rebuilding and strengthening communities impacted by Hurricane Melissa and will continue working with Rotary District 7020 to deliver both immediate relief and long-term resilience across the region.
