PIRATES WEEK 2019 DISTRICT WINNERS ANNOUNCED

The Pirates Week Festival is pleased to announce the winner of this year’s District Heritage Day competition is East End. Bodden Town and George Town came in a close second and third respectively.

Highlighting the history and culture of the Cayman Islands, the District Heritage Days are judged on the committee’s ability to showcase the traditions of that district along with the overall presentation, friendliness of volunteers and cleanliness of the location.

The adjudication criteria included each district’s use of the Pirates Week ‘Shipwrecked’ theme, the variety of traditional food, traditional arts and demonstrations as well as the variety of entertainment and children’s activities on offer during the day’s events.

“We are grateful to the tireless contributions of the district committees on a whole and we congratulate them all on job well done,” commented Melanie McField, Pirates Week General Manager.
