Police Investigate Robbery in George Town

Shortly after 10:00PM  on Tuesday, 10 June, officers responded to a report of a robbery on Denham Thompson Way in George Town. It was reported that two women had arrived at an address and exited a vehicle when they were approached by a masked man carrying what appeared to be an iron rod or stick, who attempted to take their bags. A struggle ensued between the man and one of the women, before the man made off on foot with the bags, containing cash and personal items, in the direction of South Church Street. One of the women received minor injuries during the incident and was attended to on location.

Following enquiries, police discovered that the man appeared to have entered the grounds of a restaurant on South Church Street and discarded several of the stolen items, which were later recovered by officers. The suspect then stole and made off on a scooter, which was also subsequently recovered by officers.

The man is described as wearing a high-visibility long-sleeved green top, dark pants, and a dark mask.

The matter is under investigation, and police are appealing for anyone who may have seen a male fitting the description in the area, between 10:00PM and 11:00PM, whether on foot or on a scooter, to contact George Town CID at 949-4222.
