Police Investigate Two Drug Incidents in April that Lead to Charges Being Laid

On Sunday, 18 April, officers on patrol in East End observed two vehicles travelling at high speeds on the Queen's Highway. The vehicles appeared to be driving in convoy . The vehicles were both stopped and searched. One vehicle, which was being driven by a 30-year-old-man of East End, was found to be carrying over 120lbs of ganja, and the other vehicle that was being driven by a 23-year-old-woman of no fixed address contained over 8lbs of Ganja.


As a result, both the man and woman were arrested on suspicion of drug-related offences, and were subsequently charged with Possession of Ganja with Intent to Supply. They both appeared in court on Tuesday, 20 April, where the man was released on conditional bail and the woman was remanded in custody.
The following week, on Tuesday, 27 April, police searched a residence located in the Spotts Newlands area, under the Misuse of Drugs Law. During the search, officers found and seized a large quantity of ganja and, as a result of this recovery, two men, ages 31 of West Bay and 49 of Bodden Town, as well as one woman, age 29 of West Bay, were arrested on suspicion of drug-related offenses. The woman has since been bailed by the police pending further investigation.
As part of their investigations, officers conducted searches of other residences in West Bay and a further quantity of ganja was recovered. A second woman, age 26, of West Bay, was arrested on suspicion of drug-related offenses.
This investigation has led to the recovery of over 800lbs of ganja.


The 49-year-old-man of Bodden Town and 31-year-old-man of West Bay have both been charged with two counts of Possession of Ganja with Intent to Supply. The 26-year-old-woman of West Bay, was also charged with one count of Possession of Ganja with Intent to Supply. All three persons appeared in court on Friday, 30 April. Both men have been remanded by the court, while the woman was conditionally bailed.
