Police Issue Advisory on Fraudulent Text Messages

Law Enforcement 30 Jun, 2025 Follow News

Police are aware of fraudulent text messages being received by local numbers, which claim that urgent action is needed, and provide a link to rectify the issue. These messages are fraudulent and clicking the link may result in personal information being stolen. One of the messages claims that a package cannot be delivered due missing address information, and that a storage fee will be charged if not rectified. Another makes claims about an overdue electricity bill, and another speaks about a pending tax refund. Notably, the messages do not mention any specific information such as a company or name of an intended recipient.

Persons receiving these messages, or any unsolicited text messages containing a link and demanding urgent action, are advised to not engage. Do not follow any instructions therein, and do not click on the link. If you believe the message may be of relevance to you, it is best to verify by contacting the relevant company or person directly via other means.
