Police Respond to Firearm Incident in West Bay

Police can confirm that just before 9:20PM on Saturday 10 July, armed officers were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communication Centre, to the West Bay District, where reports were received of shots being fired. The officers are currently on scene and making checks in the West Bay area. So far there has not been any reports of injuries made to the police as a result of this incident.
The RCIPS have confirmed that two shots were fired along West Church Street, near the West Bay Post Office, yesterday, 10 July. During the investigation, two spent rounds were recovered by the officers. No one reported injuries or damage to properties in the nearby area.


From the description of a vehicle involved in the incident, officers from the Firearm Response Unit had cause to search a vehicle that was located at a residence on Birch Tree Hill Road. During the search, several rounds of ammunition were recovered along with a firearm magazine.
Two men, ages 21 and 30, both of West Bay, were arrested on suspicion of possession of an unlicensed firearm. The men are currently in custody pending further investigations.
