This was the theme on Friday evening at the Cayman Brac Sports Complex as residents gathered to witness the two outstanding Brackers voted to receive, “The Proud Of Them Award 2021”.
Mr. James Myles Director of Youth Services spearheaded the occasion which was also attended by the Minister of Education, the Hon. Mrs. Julianna O’Connor Connolly.
Both speakers were in high praises for Criston Ferguson ad Allison Flores Hernandez the two nominees who gained the prestigious award.
Criston’s parents had these beautiful remarks about him.
“When we received the news of his selection we were thrilled and elated. We both had knowledge of his undertakings and achievements and greeted the news with excitement. We believe that this award would further motivate him to accept challenges and excel to the highest of his potential. We would continue to encourage him to be a role model for all young people on Cayman Brac and the islands as whole. Well done to our son Criston.”
I spoke to Criston about this award and this was his reaction.
“I was aware of being nominated but unsure of being selected. The news thrilled me to the point of being ecstatic. I felt a sense of gratitude to my parents who are always encouraging me. I am also aware that with honour I have to be a role model to others. I am up to the challenge and will keep my standard high.”
Allison’s family was just as elated as Criston’s. Beaming with joy and excitement they said:
“We are extremely proud of Allison. She works diligently and has a determination for success that is admirable. Throughout her years we have been her source of inspiration and encouragement. This billboard display is truly something we will cherish for our lives. We encourage her to inspire others to achieve their true potential.”
Her elder sister Alec had this to say: “I am so proud of my sister that her efforts have paid rich dividends. She is a great example of how the academic and extra curricular can be mixed successfully. I know this will motivate her to even higher heights.”
Cayman Brac is extremely proud and happy for these two outstanding role models.
