Today (Friday, May 8, 2020) the Public Transport Unit (PTU) proudly announced the launch of its new website: www.caymantransport.ky. The website allows residents, visitors and public transport providers to find a wide range of information pertaining to public transportation in the Cayman Islands, in one convenient location. This includes information on public bus routes, bus and taxi fares, school bus service, tour operators, limousine services and Public Transport Legislation.
The website also provides links for taxi users to download the PTU’s taxi fare calculator, CI:GO, from the App Store and Google Play. Additionally, local transport operators can find a range of application forms and useful step-by-step guides through the licensing and permitting processes.
Hon. Moses Kirkconnell, Minister for Transport commended the PTU saying, “Until now there has not been a single, specific website with information on how to get around the Cayman Islands on public transport. This website fills that gap and provides easy access to all public transport related information. Although the majority of transport services are currently suspended due to the coronavirus, I am confident that this website will be a useful resource when normal operations are resumed. I therefore encourage the public to refer to its tools and features when seeking accurate and reliable information regarding our public transport services.”

ABOUT PUBLIC TRANSPORT UNIT
Governed by the Traffic Law (2011), the Public Transportation Unit was created to ensure the proper governance and regulation of the public transportation system in the Cayman Islands. Our mission is to govern timely, efficient and reliable public transport for all residents and visitors in the Cayman Islands for a fair and consistent price.
As the body responsible for the Public Transport Unit, the Ministry of District Administration, Tourism & Transport (DATT) is responsible for oversight of the strategic management, finance and administration of transportation services in the Cayman Islands. The Ministry ensures that public passenger vehicles are adequately staffed and resourced to meet customer needs, assuring the safety of operators and riders, as well as the creation and implementation of an innovative strategic plan for building a five-star public transportation infrastructure for success.
