RCIPS report recovery of two Firearms and other illicit items

On Friday, 14 November, a police lead multi-agency operation was conducted at a residence in West Bay under the Firearms Act. The search team consisted of personnel from the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service, Customs and Border Control, Department of Agriculture and the Cayman Islands Fire Service.

During the search, two handguns, a quantity of firearm ammunition, a large quantity of ganja, a liquid substance believed to be hash oil, and other items believed to be of value to the investigation were recovered.

As a result, a man, age 40, and a woman, age 34, both of West Bay, were arrested on suspicion of possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of an unlicensed firearm (ammunition), possession of ganja with intent to supply, possession of ganja and consumption of ganja.

The arrested man remains in custody, while the woman was bailed pending further investigations. The investigation is being carried out by the police.
