The annual Meals on Wheels ¢hange for Change Coin Drive saw record breaking numbers for its 2021 event with over 300 volunteers who were mobilized across Grand Cayman on January 29th and 30th, 2021, in 21 high traffic shops, organizations, businesses and banks across Grand Cayman. The community came out in full force to volunteer and give to the charity which raised a whopping $48,516.35!! These funds will be used to provide daily hot meals to seniors, disabled, homebound and infirm persons across all 5 districts of Grand Cayman.

Meals on Wheels works hard to raise the funds needed each month in order to continue to provide meals free of charge to over 315 clients in need. The organization relies on over 120 volunteers weekly to deliver the meals to clients at their homes.

Jennifer West, Meals on Wheels General Manager said “I am beyond overwhelmed amazing support from our community! We had volunteers from age 4 to 74 who represented service clubs, churches, corporations, small businesses, civil servants, schools and more. The unbelievable success of the 2021 Change for Change Coin Drive is a reflection of the ever-increasing dedication and enthusiasm that our Meals on Wheels volunteers’ display on a continual basis. It is because of these volunteers and the generous donations that Meals on Wheels continues to serve our most vulnerable citizens. Every penny counts and we are extremely grateful to everyone for opening your heart and emptying your pockets, coin jars, car trays and piggy banks for our worthy cause.”

There are some expenses incurred in putting on any event, and thanks to our sponsors at Davenport Development Ltd., Radio Cayman, Cayman Compass, Caymanian Times and other media partners who helped Meals on Wheels spread the word and cover those costs, every dollar that was raised goes straight to feeding seniors in need.

Meals on Wheels would like to thank the following locations who opened their stores including Foster’s (Airport, Camana Bay, Countryside& Republix), A.L. Thompson’s, Atlantic Kids & Atlantic Department Store, Butterfield, Cayman National Bank, Credit Union, Cost U Less, Buy Smart, Book Nook, Hurley’s Marketplace, Kirk Home Centre, Kirk Market and, Rocky’s Diamonds.

We would not have been able to have such a successful event without our volunteers including the Cayman Islands Civil Servants who rallied staff from various departments and Ministries. We would also like to say a special thank you to the following civic minded organizations who encouraged their staff to get involved:
