Stiltwalkers – part of One Cayman Carnival

Ever wondered who are the colourful stilt walkers seen at Cayman Carnival Batabano for the past several years?

They are a group of curious, creative, and committed young people dedicated to elevating Honduran art through a distinctive mark of innovation and originality led by Karen Irias, current director of the House of Culture in Trinidad, who, together with the creative collaboration of 15 artists, brings unique performances to life in Honduras.

Today, we proudly highlight Gabriel Díaz, a young artist with an auditory and speech disability who conveys from the heart a deep love for art. Although Gabriel is deaf, through his charisma, dedication, and expressiveness, he connects with audiences through movement and gestures, filling each of our performances with joy.

Gabriel, together with Misael Gutiérrez, José Flores, and Noel Aguirre, forms part of the Cultural Heritage of Honduras through the renowned Festival Chimeneas Gigantes. They have been a part of Cayman Carnival’s Adult Parade for many years.

One Cayman Carnival invites the public to see them on Saturday 23 May as they parade all the Seven Mile Road.
