Teen Thompson is Caribbean champ

Cayman’s teenage cycling sensation Ryan Thompson has powered his way to a Caribbean title.

Thompson, 16, was in fine form again, coming home with a gold and bronze from the championships. First he dominated the Men’s Junior Individual Time Trial in Belize at the 2026 Caribbean Cycling Road Races Championship, stopping the clock at 26 minutes, 03.44 seconds — the fastest ride of the day and good enough to crown him Caribbean champion.

Bermuda’s Jacob Wright was next best, finishing more than 40 seconds behind in 26:44.95, while Barbados’ Jonah Kelly claimed third in 27:05.27.

Thompson’s blistering average speed of 46.052 km/h put him well clear of the field and delivered Cayman another major regional victory on the road.

Then Thompson secured a bronze in the road race on Sunday.
