Tropical Storm Zeta forms 188 miles SW of Grand Cayman
The National Hurricane Center in Miami Florida is issuing an advisories on Tropical Storm Zeta). At 11 a.m. Zeta was located about 188 miles SW of Grand Cayman. Zeta is stationery but is expected to slowly drift towards the north northwest over the next 2 to 4 days, taking the system further away from the Cayman Islands. Zeta’s got 40 mph maximum winds, but is forecast to be a hurricane by late Monday or early Tuesday.
Here in the Cayman Islands, the National Weather Service has forecasted Cloudy to overcast skies with rain and intermittent thunderstorms. Showers may become locally heavy at times leading to possible flooding of low lying area.
Winds are South to southeast 15 to 20 knots with higher gusts.
The sea state is rough with wave heights of 5 to 7 feet. 2 to 4 feet SW'ly swells are expected along the W coast of Grand Cayman.
A small craft warning and a flood warning are in effect.
