Two men arrested for Drug and Weapon offenses at Smith Cove
Two men were arrested on Friday, 19 December, following a report of suspicious activity at Smith Cove Beach on South Church Street.
Just before 9:00 AM, police were dispatched to a report of a man searching through unattended bags on the beach. Upon arrival, officers located a man matching the description, along with a second man behaving suspiciously nearby.
A search of both individuals revealed:
* A knife (offensive weapon)
* A quantity of ganja
* A substance believed to be cocaine
The suspects, aged 42 and 46, both residents of George Town, were arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, possession of cocaine, possession of ganja, and other drug-related offenses. They remain in custody pending further investigation.
The public is being reminded to avoid leaving valuable items unattended and to keep their properties within their sights while enjoying the beaches.
