The University College of the Cayman Islands (UCCI) has today announced the signing of a partnership agreement with Gallagher, one of the world’s leading insurance brokerage and risk management firms. This agreement formalizes the creation of the Gallagher Scholarship Programme, designed to provide financial support to Caymanian students pursuing associate and bachelor’s degrees at UCCI.

Gallagher has committed to donating $5,000 KYD per year over a three-year period, aimed at funding tuition fees and books for students who demonstrate a robust work ethic and a commitment to academic excellence, civic leadership, and service. This donation underscores Gallagher’s ongoing commitment to fostering local talent and contributing to the educational and economic growth of the Cayman Islands.

Dr. Robert W. Robertson, President and CEO of UCCI, commented: “We are delighted to partner with Gallagher in supporting Caymanian students in achieving their academic goals. The Gallagher Scholarship Programme will enable students to pursue higher education while being recognized for their academic potential and leadership abilities. This partnership reflects UCCI’s commitment to creating opportunities for our students to succeed in the global economy.”

Scott Wallace, Managing Director of Gallagher, added: “Gallagher is proud to be involved in this initiative. We believe in the importance of investing in the next generation of Caymanian leaders and are excited to see the impact this scholarship will have on the lives of students. Supporting education is a core part of our values, and we look forward to seeing the positive contributions these students will make to the community.”

Key highlights of the Gallagher Scholarship Programme include:

• A $5,000 KYD annual donation to cover tuition fees and books for selected UCCI students.

• Scholarship recipients will be chosen based on academic merit and a demonstrated commitment to civic leadership.

• Students benefiting from the scholarship may also have opportunities for internships at Gallagher.

The scholarship is exclusive to Caymanian students and can be renewed for an additional year if the student maintains good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 2.5. The programme aims to provide financial support to students who show promise in their academic journey and are poised to make meaningful contributions to the Cayman Islands.

This partnership is another example of how UCCI continues to forge impactful collaborations with local and international organizations, ensuring that students have access to the resources and opportunities needed to thrive academically and professionally.
