Antoinette Gayle
The University College of the Cayman Islands (UCCI) is today celebrating the accomplishments of Dr. Antoinette Gayle, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, who continues to bring international recognition and prestige to the institution through her innovative teaching, impactful research, and now, recognition as an Advance HE Fellow.
On 18 August, Dr. Gayle presented on “Enhancing Spectroscopy Education in Organic Chemistry Through Project-Based Learning,” at the American Chemical Society (ACS) Fall Conference, one of the world’s most prestigious gatherings of scientists and educators.
In November, Dr. Gayle will once again take to the global stage at the School Science and Mathematics Association (SSMA) Annual Conference. She will share findings from her research presentation, “Impact of a Mathematics Review on Students’ Chemistry Self-Efficacy: A Qualitative Exploration,” and lead a hands-on workshop on “Integrating Mathematics into Chemistry Education: Enhancing Analytical Skills.”
Adding to these accomplishments, her latest research has been accepted for publication in the School Science and Mathematics (SSMA) Journal, a respected peer-reviewed platform for advancing innovation in science and mathematics education.
Finally, Dr. Gayle has this month been awarded an Advance HE Fellowship under the category of Fellow. This recognizes sustained experience of teaching higher education students with a broad range of responsibilities, an achievement which Dr. Gayle has clearly demonstrated. This is the third member of staff at UCCI to be recognised by Advance HE. Director, Tamsin Deasey-Weinstein was also awarded the prestigious Principal Fellowship earlier this year. Together, these awards highlight the depth of innovation across UCCI’s faculty and staff.
“These opportunities allow me not only to share my research but also to proudly represent UCCI with distinction on the global stage,” Dr. Antoinette Gayle commented.
UCCI President and CEO, Professor Livingston Smith, praised Dr. Gayle’s achievements: “Dr. Gayle exemplifies UCCI’s commitment to academic excellence, research impact, and innovation. Her contributions not only elevate her field but also strengthen UCCI’s reputation as a leader in higher education.”
Through her research, teaching, and new recognition as an Advance HE Fellow, Dr. Gayle continues to advance UCCI’s mission of preparing students for success while making meaningful contributions to the global academic community.
