Water-Related Death in North Sound
Shortly after 11:10AM on Monday, 11 August, the Cayman Islands Coast Guard (CICG) responded to a distress call from a vessel at Coral Gardens, in the North Sound, which reported that one of the vessel’s passengers had encountered difficulties while snorkeling.
Upon arrival at the location, Coast Guard officers assisted crew members from the other vessel in taking the male aboard the CICG vessel, and immediately began administering chest compressions while travelling to shore. They were met on shore by EMS, and the man was transported to hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The deceased, a man aged 68, is a visitor from the United States. The Cayman Islands Coast Guard and RCIPS express condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
