DOUBLE CELEBRATION FOR UCCI AS TWO ACADEMIC LEADERS RECOGNISED WITH ADVANCE HE FELLOWSHIPS

The University College of the Cayman Islands (UCCI) is pleased to announce that two members of its faculty have this month been awarded professional recognition through the Advance HE Fellowship scheme. Dr. Jonathan Bratt has been awarded a title of Advance HE Fellow (FHEA), and Ms. Terese Parker has been awarded Advance HE Senior Fellow (SFHEA).

Both recipients are long-standing members of UCCI’s academic community. Ms. Terese Parker, Interim Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences, brings extensive experience in education spanning both the United States and the Caribbean. Dr. Jonathan Bratt, an Assistant Professor in the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences, has also contributed to Cayman’s academic community through a recent publication in the University’s academic journal.

Advance HE Fellowships are internationally recognised professional credentials that acknowledge effective practice and leadership in teaching and learning, aligned to the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF).

UCCI joined Advance HE membership in 2024 to support staff development and to establish a clear pathway for recognising the professional practice of colleagues who contribute to the student learning experience. The recognitions awarded to Dr. Bratt and Ms. Parker further strengthen UCCI’s growing community of Advance HE Fellows and reinforce the University’s commitment to high-quality teaching, reflective practice, and continuous improvement.

Ms. Nanalie Cover, Acting President and Chief Executive Officer of UCCI, commented, “These recognitions for Dr. Bratt and Ms. Parker exemplify the student-centred approach that we value at UCCI. These Fellowships are significant international recognition of their impact on teaching and learning, and I am proud to see their work acknowledged in this way. Their achievements also reflect the strength of our academic community and our continuing focus on excellence in the student experience.”

Advance HE Fellowships span four categories, Associate Fellow, Fellow, Senior Fellow and Principal Fellow, reflecting increasing levels of experience, influence and leadership in teaching and learning practice. As an internationally recognised benchmark, Fellowship provides a consistent framework for institutions to recognise educational practice and support ongoing professional development across academic and professional services roles.
