Alva Suckoo signing with Joey Hew and Roy McTaggart
The People’s Progressive Movement (PPM) has confirmed Roy Tatum as its candidate for Red Bay in the 2025 general elections, succeeding six-term MP and former Premier Sir Alden McLaughlin. Tatum, a seasoned leader and resident, steps forward with the experience, integrity, and vision to continue delivering for the people of Red Bay. Tatum and his family have made Red Bay their home for over twenty-five years.
For decades, Tatum has been a driving force in the PPM and in public service, working alongside McLaughlin as Head of the Office of the Premier and helping shape national policies. A 33-year veteran of the banking sector, he understands the economic realities facing Caymanians and brings a steady hand to the challenges ahead. His leadership within the PPM—as a long-standing party member, George Town branch chairman, and current vice chairman — demonstrates his commitment to stable, effective governance.
McLaughlin, expressed his full support for Tatum, stating: “Roy Tatum has been a steadfast ally in the fight for good governance, a stable economy, and a Cayman that works for its people. He has the commitment, the knowledge, and the experience to represent Red Bay with strength and dedication. There is no doubt in my mind — Roy is the right choice to carry forward the progress we have built.”
PPM Leader of the Opposition Joseph “Joey” Hew added: “Roy is a dedicated team player who has the experience and dedication to enhance the lives of the people of Red Bay and to shape policies that benefit Caymanians. He is stepping forward to continue Sir Alden’s legacy in Red Bay, and I have no doubt he will deliver real results.”
